As with many top-level domains, .tel requires registered domains to be hosted, that is, to publish domains holding contacts into the DNS. To help registrars with domain publication, the free Community TelHosting (CTH) service is available that provides provisioning and publication in the DNS of domains and their content. Registrars can sign up for the CTH service and use it to manage their sponsored domains.
With Community TelHosting, Telnic operates a number of DNS servers, so signed-up registrars do
not need to run their own name servers to host .tel domains. In addition, the Community TelHosting
service uses the open-source TelHosting Software application that actually creates, maintains and
publishes domains and zones to the DNS.
The CTH allows you to:
• Add all types of contact details, text, keywords and location information.
• Prioritize contact information.
• Manage contact information, text, keywords and location.
• Create folders that allow easy navigation, like london.uk.hertz.tel.
• Create Profiles, such as work, home, travelling.
• Share relevant/private contact information with people that you choose.
